UT Power is proud to have collaborated with Maguire Brothers on another successful project together. UT Power was responsible for the supply and installation of a 100kW solar PV array for a well-established organisation in Eastbourne.
The Kings Centre is a contemporary, fresh and extensive conference centre situated on the south coast in Eastbourne, East Sussex. As Eastbourne’s premier conference and exhibition centre, it boasts exceptional facilities coupled with competitive rates to give the perfect mix of location, service and dedicated meeting rooms. The main hall can seat 700 delegates and there are a number of other rooms accommodating 8 to 150 delegates that can be used as small conference venues, training rooms, board rooms and lecture rooms.

The Kings centre’s existing roof system had reached a stage where energy efficiency improvements were essential. Rising energy costs and the need for sustainable operations drove the project’s objectives. It was critical to complete the works without affecting the operations of the venue, which required careful planning to reduce disruption.
Maguire Brothers installed a single skin roofing system on a top hat bar and bracket framework. This new system incorporated 350mm of insulation, significantly improving thermal performance. New roof lights were added to enhance natural lighting within the centre, contributing to further energy savings. UT Power installed a 100kWh solar array as part of the energy upgrade, reducing the centre’s reliance on grid electricity and promoting sustainable energy use.
The centre now benefits from an energy-efficient, future-proofed roofing system that limits heat loss and reduces energy expenditure. The addition of the solar array provides a sustainable energy source, supporting their commitment to reducing its carbon footprint.
The project was completed with minimal disruption to operations, ensuring activities could continue to serve the community. The improvements made not only enhance energy efficiency but also ensure long-term value, positioning the centre for sustainable growth in the years to come.
