Open Grants

The Workplace Charging Scheme – Enables UK businesses, charities and public sector organisations to request vouchers towards the up-front costs of the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charge-points on their premises. The grant covers up to 75% of the total costs of the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints (inclusive of VAT), capped at a maximum of:

  • £350 per socket
  • 40 sockets across all sites per applicant – for instance, if you would like to install them in 40 sites, you will have 1 socket available per site

Installation must be completed, and the voucher claimed within six months of the voucher’s issue date. The scheme is run by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles and administered by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency.

Buckinghamshire

Buckinghamshire – Grant towards the installation of electric vehicle chargepoints and supporting infrastructure for small and medium-sized businesses.

Recieve up to five grants across five different sites. The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £15,000. You can get:

  • Up to £350 per chargepoint socket installed
  • Up to £500 per parking space enabled with supporting infrastructure

Grants for landlords with rental and leasehold properties:

  • Grants are available to help landlords install electric vehicle chargepoints and supporting infrastructure in rental and leasehold properties. The grant covers 75% of the cost of the work, up to a maximum of £30,000.

You can receive up to 200 grants a year for residential properties, and a further 100 for commercial properties, as well as up to 30 grants each year for installing infrastructure in residential carparks.

Birmingham

The Net Zero Grant Programme (NZGP) is open to small to medium sized businesses, based within or locating to, the Birmingham City Council or Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council area.

Business grant funding is available up to £100K and grants will cover energy and resource efficiency improvements to business premises which includes the installation of solar panels and LED lighting.

Available grant amounts are as follows:

  • Between £2,500 – £7,500 for brand new start-ups, or businesses trading less than 6 months looking to consolidate.
  • Between £5,000 – £100,000 for existing businesses, trading for more than 6 months.

All applicants must undertake a free energy audit/diagnostic/on-site carbon reduction survey (audit) prior to submission of a NZGP application, which will be undertaken by a consortium led by Aston University.

Nottingham (Rushcliffe)

The Rushcliffe Accelerator is a business support project designed to help businesses across Rushcliffe to start, sustain, grow and innovate.

Micro and small businesses in rural areas of Rushcliffe can apply for up to £40k funding from the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF), supported by the UK Government to help them grow and support the local economy.

Grants of between £5k and £40k are available to fund capital projects covering a broad range of initiatives and examples include:

  • Improving local green spaces, active travel and energy-saving options
  • Supporting local arts, cultural, heritage and creative activities
  • Boosting local sports facilities, teams and leagues
  • Impactful volunteering and community engagement
  • Supporting businesses to grow
  • Supporting businesses to decarbonise
  • Diversification of farm businesses
  • Creating and expanding leisure and tourism businesses such as event venues, accommodation or leisure facilities
  • Purchasing equipment for food processing for non-farmer-owned businesses
  • Diversification of farm businesses

Somerset

North Somerset Council’s Net Zero Business Grants Programme offers capital grants of up to £30,000 to install renewables and energy efficiency measures. Grants are available to Community Interest Companies and eligible small and medium sized businesses (SMEs) with a registered trading address within North Somerset.

Net Zero Business Grants are capital grants of up to £30,000 to install renewables and energy efficiency measures. Match funding of up to 70% by North Somerset Council is available, dependent on the size of the business, the location and type of project.  

Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent

Green Solutions in affiliation with the Business Energy Advice Service is a programme that offers support to businesses in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

An opportunity to apply for grants of between £1,000 and £100,000 (to cover up to 50% of eligible costs) is available per business to implement recommendations from your Energy Assessment.

 Your business can access the Low Carbon Grant if it:

  • Has undertaken an energy assessment.
  • Is registered on Companies House.
  • Trades from premises in a Staffordshire or Stoke Local Authority area.
  • Has been trading for at least 12 months.
  • Has not received over £315,000 in subsidies in the current and previous two financial years (financial year being 1 April to 31 March).
  • The Low Carbon Grant is partly subsidised. This means that you, the recipient business, will need to contribute finance towards project costs.

Worcestershire

Net Zero Worcestershire grants is a grant funding scheme available to help Small to Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Worcestershire to implement energy saving initiatives including LED lighting, heating and insulation and renewables. The initiative aims to support Worcestershire SMEs to make the transition towards a sustainable and low-carbon future. Funding available per area:

  • Bromsgrove District: £1,000 to £10,000
  • Malvern Hills District: £1,000 to £8,000
  • Redditch Borough: £1,000 to £10,000
  • Worcester City: £1,000 to £4,000
  • Wychavon District: £1,000 to £5,000
  • Wyre Forest District: £1,000 to £10,000

Grants are awarded on a competitive and match-funded basis, meaning the SME will need to provide at least 60% of the total cost of the project. Amounts available is subject to change.

Coventry and Warwickshire

The Decarbonisation Net Zero Programme (DNZ), delivered by Coventry City Council, supports businesses with fewer than 250 employees based in Coventry and Warwickshire who want to save money on energy, waste and water bills and maximise low carbon opportunities. They provide free energy and resource efficiency audits to help identify where energy, water and waste savings can be made, as well as low-carbon product development.

Small to medium-sized enterprises (SME) in Coventry and Warwickshire will continue to be supported to be more energy and resource-efficient through our new grant-funded programme leading to cost savings and new opportunities. Benefits of the new programme include:

  • Free energy and resource efficiency audits to help identify energy, water and waste savings.
  • Continued free membership to the Green Business Network.
  • Access to other specialist support to enable growth and innovation.
  • Free events, workshops, webinars, podcasts and 1:1 support.
  • If eligible will be able to apply to one of our capital grant programmes

To qualify, your business must:

  • Operate in Coventry. (If you are based outside Coventry visit the Business Growth West Midlands website to learn more about the support available in your area)
  • Employ fewer than 250 people.
  • Have an annual turnover of less than 36 million pounds.
  • Not have received more than 315,000 pounds of public aid at the period of the current fiscal year and the two fiscal years immediately preceding the current fiscal year.

Nationwide

Improving Farm Productivity Grant Round 2 – Will provide grants if you’re a farmer or horticulturalist in England towards capital items to improve farm and horticulture productivity through:

  • solar photovoltaic (PV) systems.
  • the use of robotic or automatic equipment and systems to aid crop and livestock production.
  • wavelength specific LED lighting for horticultural crops.
  • advanced ventilation control units.

Both land owning and tenant farmers can apply. The project must be on land you own or farm as a tenant.

If your application is for robotic or automatic equipment, wavelength specific LED lighting and/or advanced ventilation control units, but does not include solar PV equipment, the minimum grant you can apply for is £25,000 (50% of £50,000). The maximum grant is £500,000 per applicant business.

If your application is for solar PV equipment only, the minimum grant you can apply for is £15,000 (25% of £60,000). The maximum grant is £100,000 per applicant business.

If you want to apply for both a Solar grant and a Farm Productivity grant, you must submit 2 separate applications. The maximum grant across all submitted applications is £500,000 in total, per applicant business.
