The deadline to apply for additional support from the Government if you are an Energy Intensive Industry is this week!
Deadline: You must apply before 23rd July 2023.
What’s going on?
The government confirmed details of a new energy discount scheme for businesses, charities and the public sector, after the previous Energy Bill Relief Scheme ended in March 2023. Your energy supplier should have contacted you, but in case you’ve missed it here is some more information.
Details of the ETII scheme: The scheme will run until 31 March 2024, and aims to help energy intensive businesses locked into contracts signed before recent substantial falls in the wholesale price and provide others with reassurance against the risk of prices rising again. Businesses in sectors with particularly high levels of energy use and trade intensity will receive a higher level of support.
Bees are essential to our survival and play a big role in balancing our ecosystem. Bees are the world’s most important pollinator of food crops and, according to estimates, one-third of the food that we eat daily is due to the pollination carried out by bees. 🍯
How will the extinction of Bees affect humans?
If bees ceased to exist one day, there would be harmful repercussions on the ecosystems. Without bees, the availability and diversity of fresh produce would decline substantially, and human nutrition would likely suffer.
Simple things you can do to look after our Bees:
🌻Plant bee-friendly flowers and create a welcoming habitat for bees in your garden. 🍯Support local beekeepers and purchase honey from sustainable sources. 📚Educate yourself and others about the importance of bees in our ecosystem. 🌿Reduce pesticide use and opt for natural alternatives to protect bee populations.
Plastic Free July is a worldwide movement that brings together millions of people to be part of reducing plastic pollution.
Tackling plastic pollution is extremely important if we want cleaner streets, oceans, and communities. 🐟
Changes you can implement to cut down on your plastic use:
🌍 Re-use shopping bags. 🌍 Re-use water bottles. 🌍 Use a refillable coffee cup. 🌍 Switch to plastic free cosmetic products like bars of soap and shampoo. 🌍 Use refillable deodorant. 🌍 Switch to paper straws. 🌍 Switch to plastic free containers like glass or bamboo. 🌍 Chose clothing made from natural materials like organic cotton, linen, hemp, or bamboo. These fabrics are biodegradable. 🌍 Buy loose fruit and vegetables. 🌍 Buy pre-loved clothing, it’s a circular way to reduce waste and give clothes a second life.

Standby power has been estimated to account for up to 40% of a device’s total energy use. That’s 6,500 hours a year of wasted energy per device absorbing anywhere from 0.5 to 30 watts each. The power needed to keep a device on standby mode is surprisingly high. 📈
The same goes for your business! Where possible, make sure all computers, lights, machinery, and electricals are turned off completely when not in use.

In 2025, the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) is being switched off, which means everyone, from households to businesses, currently using PSTN-based services will need to move to another service before then.
Every phone line for UK businesses will move to a fully digital network that utilises voice over internet protocol technology (VoIP) operating over a fibre-based service.
Although the final switch off is planned for 2025, from September 2023, anyone using ISDN or PSTN services will not be able to add to, enhance, or change their current system.

Did you know, in partnership with Carbon Footprint Ltd we plant a tree for every Solar PV install we complete?🌳🌱
With our Solar PV solutions, we helped our customers generate their own green energy and avoid 271.5 tonnes of CO2 emissions entering the atmosphere in 2022 alone.
14,868 trees would be required to absorb this level of CO2 emissions! 💚
Can they reduce your energy consumption and save you money? 💸
The figures speak for themselves!
According to a study, smart meters have a larger impact on energy consumption than previously anticipated by the government, with reductions of 3.43% for electricity and 2.97% for gas.
To arrive at these findings, suppliers examined the energy consumption of customers with smart meters and compared it to that of traditional-meter users. The analysis focused on 12 months after the installation of smart meters, with a subset of suppliers also examining longer-term impacts.
With a smart meter you can wave goodbye to estimated billing.👋🏼 A smart meter shows a digital meter reading and uses a secure smart data network to automatically and wirelessly send the readings to your energy supplier, so you will receive accurate, not estimated bills.
