Eid Mubarak

Happy Eid to all who celebrate! ⭐🌙🎆

We spoke to one of our colleagues who partakes every year to find out what the occasion means to him.

“The whole point of Eid is celebrating the end of the fasting month. It’s a very joyous time, spending time with all my family and friends is my favourite part. We always get the whole extended family together and it’s just a great vibe, we usually order in catering but this year my mum insisted she’s making her lamb biryani, I’m not complaining!”

Ofgem Non-Domestic 2024 Research Report

Did you catch Ofgem’s report of businesses’ experiences of the Energy Market? 1,000 businesses across Great Britain were surveyed to gain their perspective of the Energy Market, including their use of Energy Brokers/Consultants.

Out of those businesses that did use a TPI, 73% reported that they were satisfied with the service they received during the switching process.

Comments received included:
TPI’s initiated contact proactively
Businesses with longstanding relationships with TPI’s were associated with higher levels of confidence and trust
TPI’s provided a greater range of contract options across multiple suppliers with a choice of prices
TPI’s were more responsive than suppliers and that they trusted them to find the best deal more than their energy suppliers

One business stated “It took a lot of researching work out of our hands. Instead of having to do comparisons on our own they just sent it all over to us.”

There were multiple businesses who mentioned having difficulty comparing contracts as a barrier to switching, inconsistencies in the ways that suppliers present tariffs and other contract information made it difficult to assess which contracts were more favourable on price than others. Some found contracts too complex to understand fully, which prevented them from making an informed decision.

When using Utility Trade, your dedicated account manager and energy consultancy team will analyse your business needs using market intelligence to help reduce any financial risk and provide professional price forecasting. Not only will you be getting access to the best energy rates on the market, but everything will also be laid out in easy to understand terms so you can make a knowledgeable decision.

If you’re looking for pricing for your business and are interested in getting comparison quotes, contact us today to talk to one of our team.

RTS Meter Switch Off

Do you have an RTS meter? Did you know they need replacing by the end of June 2025 otherwise you are at risk of your meter losing functionality?

The Radio Teleswitch Service allows some older traditional multi-rate electricity meters to function properly. These include economy 7 and 10 meters. Introduced in the 1980’s, the equipment can no longer be properly maintained, and as there is a low number of these meters still in service, it was decided not to refresh the infrastructure.

If you have an RTS meter, it is likely to stop functioning beyond June. You could have any or all the below happen:
–           Your supplier charging you incorrectly, as they can’t tell what time you used your electricity
–           Your heating and hot water remaining on or off continually or charging up at the wrong time of the day
–           Limited choices of tariffs from suppliers

Your meter will need replacing as soon as possible to ensure you do not lose any functionality which could affect your home or business. Your supplier should have already been in touch regarding replacing your meter.

We have reached out to our suppliers to ask if there are any customers still needing a new meter so we can also get in touch to make sure a replacement appointment is in booked in.

Please remember these meter exchanges are free, and your supplier will never ask you to provide payment details when making the appointment.

If you think you have an RTS meter but have not had any contact from your supplier, please contact us or your supplier directly to arrange an appointment ASAP.

Giving Tuesday

It’s Giving Tuesday 🎁🤝🏻

Created in 2012, giving Tuesday is a day that encourages people to do good. You can volunteer your time; donate money; share your skills; campaign for something good; donate goods, food, or clothes; organise a community event, the list is endless! 📜

This year we have chosen to donate to our local foodbank. Everyone in the company contributed, whether it was a cash donation or food which was topped up by our directors meaning we have managed to get together a great selection of toiletries and food, including some Christmas treats! 🎅🏻

As always, a big thank you to all our colleagues for their generosity and support. 🤝🏻

If you’re able to, do something for someone else today 🥰

Movember

Did you know that on average, men will die 4.5 years earlier than women, and that this is largely from preventable reasons?

◽ Around 10.8 million men are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis
◽ Globally, testicular cancer is the most common cancer among young men
◽ Across the world, one man dies by suicide every minute of every day, with males accounting for 69% of all suicides

Movember is the leading charity changing the face of men’s health. They make change by:

◽ Giving men the facts
◽ Changing behaviour for the better
◽ Creating services that work for men
◽ Uniting the brightest minds
◽ Listening to the community and advocating for men

Since 2003, Movember has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men.

We are proud to announce that eight of our colleagues have signed up to the Movember challenge of growing a moustache and raising funds for men’s health.

As we enter the last two weeks of Movember, the office is filled with grumbles of “it’s really itchy” and “but it’s my birthday this weekend, I can’t go out looking like this” but our guys are still hanging in there!

If you’re able to, please make a donation to show your support, we look forward to sharing the end result with you all! 👨🏻👨🏼

Happy World Kindness Day!

An annual event that encourages individuals to practice kindness in their daily lives.

We asked our colleagues what kindness means to them:
People checking in on you 📞
Smiling at someone 🙂
Treating a stranger to a drink ☕
Being supportive and showing empathy 💕
Self-reflection 👩🏻🧑🏻
Acts where nothing is expected in return 🎁
Giving someone a compliment 🥰

We’re acknowledging the day by giving our colleagues a sweet treat with a little something sweet attached 🍬

“You cannot do kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late”

ISO 9001 & 14001

We are delighted to announce our successful audit results against the ISO 9001 & 14001 standards, where we achieved a perfect score! “No major or minor non-conformances, and no suggested improvements”. ⭐

What are these standards about?
ISO 9001 is a globally recognized standard for quality management. It helps organizations of all sizes and sectors to improve their performance, meet customer expectations and demonstrate their commitment to quality. Its requirements define how to establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve a quality management system (QMS).
Implementing ISO 9001 means your organization has put in place effective processes and trained staff to deliver flawless products or services time after time.

ISO 14001 is the internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems (EMS). It provides a framework for organizations to design and implement an EMS, and continually improve their environmental performance. By adhering to this standard, organizations can ensure they are taking proactive measures to minimize their environmental footprint, comply with relevant legal requirements, and achieve their environmental objectives. The framework encompasses various aspects, from resource usage and waste management to monitoring environmental performance and involving stakeholders in environmental commitments.”

Congratulations to the team for their continuous hard work and dedication to the business 👏🏻

What We’ve Been Up To ✍🏻

We’re back! 👋🏻 Did you miss us?

We have had an absolutely jam packed Q3 and we’re just coming up for air before we jump into Q4, so we thought we’d let you know what we’ve been up to!

At the start of July, we moved into a new, much bigger, modernised office. 🏢 We were ready for an upgrade due to the increased growth we’ve had across the company this year which is continuing. We celebrated our first day with some prosecco and nibbles whilst taking our time to settle in and check out the new areas in the office with the favourite being (and still is) the breakout room complete with pool table! 🥂🎱

Along with the growth across departments, we also created new internal positions to help manage this development which the team have taken in their stride and are excelling in the new roles. 👩🏻‍💼👨🏻‍💼

To close off a successful few months, the directors treated us to a great summer party with food and drinks on tap and we were lucky to have lovely weather alongside the evening. 🌞

As we now head into the final portion of the year, we are continuing to grow our teams as the business goes from strength to strength, so if you’re looking for a new position and might be interested, please reach out and we can discuss the current roles we have available.

💜 Maternal Mental Health Awareness Week 💜

Between the 29th of April – 5th May we dedicate this week to discuss mental health problems before, during and after pregnancy.

Maternal mental health is often overlooked, but did you know 20% of new and expectant mothers are affected by mental health struggles in the UK each year?

At a time that is mainly associated with positivity and celebration many women find it difficult to deal with the stigma around struggling with their mental health.

If you are struggling with mental health after having a baby don’t be afraid to reach out and ask for help. The most important thing to remember is that you are not alone, there is support out there. Speak to your GP, health visitor or one of the helplines listed below.

Some of the available helplines in the UK are:
– MumsAid: 07758 763908
– Association for Post Natal Illness: 0207 386 0868
– PANDAS: 0808 1961 776

🌍 Happy International Mother Earth Day! 🌍

Did you know, the planet is losing 10 million hectares of forests every year – an area larger than Iceland!

Established in 2009, environmentalists mark the 22nd of April to gather from all over the world highlighting the urgent need to protect the many ecosystems that make up our environment.

It is estimated that around 1 million animal and plant species are now threatened with extinction.

Everyone can help limit climate change, start implementing the below changes into daily life.

💡 Save energy – Use less energy by lowering your heating and cooling, switch to LED lighting and energy efficient machinery and appliances.

🚲 Walk, cycle, or take public transport – Not only does walking and cycling help your health it also lowers greenhouse emissions. For longer journeys take public transport when you can.

♻ Reduce, reuse & recycle – Buy fewer items, shop second-hand and recycle. The items we buy produce carbon emissions at each point of production from manufacturing to transporting the goods to our doors.

☀ Change your source of energy – Contact us today to switch to renewable sources such as Solar PV!
